Welcome, BLOOD PRESSURE – STROKE HERO!

May is American Stroke Month and National High Blood Pressure Education Month and your chance to be a Stroke – Blood Pressure Champion!  #CheckIt!  Encourage your audience members to have their blood pressure checked and know and share the F.A.S.T. warning signs of stroke.

We believe that everyone has a reason to live a longer and healthier life.  Why?  Life.  Life is why.  It is our great pleasure to provide you with FREE American Stroke Month and National High Blood Pressure Education Month resources.

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association are committed to empowering you and your loved ones to reduce high blood pressure and prevent stroke through knowledge, action and hope.  During May, please take these steps:

  • Share the information and educational resources with employees/students/members
  • Encourage your audience members to have their blood pressure checked
  • Inspire people to become Stroke Champions by knowing and sharing F.A.S.T.
  • Be active, raise stroke awareness by supporting May 13 – National Cycling Day

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is the leading cause of preventable heart disease and stroke death and is second only to smoking as the most common cause of preventable death from any cause.  Stroke is an urgent medical emergency.  Approximately 800,000 people in the United States have a stroke every year, with about 3 in 4 being first-time strokes.

Working together, we can do something about high blood pressure and stroke.  With your help and support, and by using and sharing the information in these resources, together we can save many more lives from stroke, as well as control and reduce high blood pressure.

Thank you for your commitment to stroke and blood pressure awareness and education.  Should you have questions or require additional information, please contact the American Stroke Association New Jersey State office by calling (609) 223-3740.
